Carers Allowance and who is entitled to it.
Carers Allowance is a taxable benefit to help people who look after someone who is disabled. You do not have to be related to, or live, with the person that you care for.
You may be able to get Carers Allowance if you are aged over 16 and spend at least 35 hours a week caring for a person who gets either:
- Attendance Allowance
- Disability Allowance at middle or highest rate for personal care
- Constant Attendance Allowance at or above the normal maximum rate with an Industrial Injuries Disablement benefit.
- Constant Attendance Allowance at the basic (full day) rate with War Disablement Pension.
